Equinox Pilates Training Institute offers a classical Comprehensive and Mat Pilates teacher training programs. Equinox has been in business for 25 years and has locations in over 12 markets including London and Toronto. Our Teacher Training program started in 2010 and was developed by Carrie Macy Samper, a 20-year veteran in the Pilates industry (also certified by Romana Krysanowska and Power Pilates). Our program development team includes some of the leading voices in the Pilates and fitness industry. The team has years of combined and textured experience teaching and studying around the world. They are all current and successful instructors at Equinox, so they have their fingers on the pulse of the Pilates industry and plenty of real-life experience to share with apprentices. Simply put, it makes sense to learn from the best of the best. This program offers a dynamic, integrative approach to the art of teaching and practicing Pilates, founded in the Equinox philosophy that Pilates is a workout that encompasses strength, power and agility to assist clients in achieving their fitness goals.
CURRICULUM • Philosophy and history of the authentic Pilates Method • Concepts, techniques, and how to teach 150+ classical Pilates exercises on all equipment for beginner through advanced levels • Effective cueing techniques • Thoughtful session programming • Anatomy as a tool for understanding the function of each exercise, and giving your teaching meaning • Professional speaking and voice skills • Pilates business skills, including how to make your new career a financial success • Hands-on and virtual teaching skills
STUDY. LEARN. TEACH.
Study and mentor with leading Pilates teachers in Equinox’s well-appointed studios. Students will learn from these instructors, refine their own practice and acquire the confidence and skills to teach in their own unique style. Program graduates will leave the program ready to sit for the Pilates Method Alliance certification exam and will be eligible to interview for a teaching position within Equinox’s studios, pending availability and need.
DETAILS • 40-week program • Seven 3-day live virtual seminars, once per month • Seven in-person group classes following each virtual seminar • In-person and virtual supervised teaching with multiple Teacher Trainers • Complimentary Select Equinox membership for 40 weeks • Access to the Equinox SPACE, a virtual learning platform with weekly lessons, videos, and digital manuals • Access to digital On Demand and Live classes on EQX+ app • Instruction by Senior Teacher Trainers, including program creator Carrie Macy Samper • Opportunity to interview for employment at Equinox upon completion of program
STUDENT HOURS • 350 additional hours completed over 40 weeks • Self-study – virtual through The SPACE, online learning platform • Self-practice – in-person and virtual • Practice teaching – in-person and virtual BENCHMARK EXAMS (approximate)
- end of May 2022: First Benchmark Exam (@100 hours)
- beginning of October 2022: Second Benchmark Exam (@300 hours)
- mid-December 2022: Final Benchmark Exam (@450 hours)
Program Cost: $7250 USD (payment plans available) Private session cost: $1512 (24 private sessions taken throughout the course, discounted 40% from regular package price) Mat classes: no additional cost (at least 10 classes to be taken throughout the course)

The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) is the international, not-for-profit, professional association and certifying agency dedicated to the teachings of Joseph H. and Clara Pilates.
About Carrie Macy Samper
Carrie Macy Samper, BA, NCPT, is the creator of the Equinox Pilates Teacher Training Programs. Carrie has been teaching Pilates for 20 years and a teacher trainer for 15 of those years. She holds Pilates certifications from Romana Kryzanowska, Power Pilates, and is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher. Being able to share the method on different levels to both clients, students, and teachers gives her renewed inspiration each day. Carrie has been with Equinox for 15 years and has held club, regional, and national level manager positions. She is currently the Director of Pilates Education for the company. You can find many classes taught by Carrie on Pilates Anytime, and she has presented at multiple Pilates Method Alliance conferences, as well as Pilates on Tour. Carrie was also the model for the infamous Toesox ad campaign wearing only socks.
