Gratz Gallery | Alexandra Bohlinger on the Wunda Chair

Alexandra Bohlinger on the Wunda Chair
The wunda chair is one of my top favourite pieces of Gratz equipment, to work on
a number of body imbalances (where muscle/s are too strong or too weak
compare to others). Two tips for this exercise: 1. Give yourself more spring
resistance for more support and remove the help as you get stronger! 2. Push the
floor with your hands/back muscles to pull into your abdominal, then stretch
through the legs!

One of my favourite places to do the teaser! The Gratz chair provides a lovely
support and feedback to push into with the perfect challenge of a moving
structure that we must control!

About Alexandra Bohlinger

Alexandra is an internationally recognised, classically trained Pilates teacher, taught by Joseph Pilates’ protege Romana Kryzanowska. She has been teaching the classical method of Pilates for almost 20 years. She has also studied Sport Science at Durham University in the UK and holds a Masters in Osteopathy from the British School of Osteopathy in London UK. Alexandra had a combined hands on osteopathy clinic & a Pilates studio in Greenwich, London before moving to the US.

A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Alexandra moved to New York as a teen to study and pursue a career in dance. While working as a personal trainer and teaching dance classes, she desired to improve her ballet skills, and was introduced to the authentic classical method of Pilates. After her first lesson, she devoted her life to mastery of the Method. She studied at the legendary Drago's New York Pilates studio, where she trained under and was certified by Romana Kryzanowska, who was Joe Pilates' protégé. Alexandra has also studied with Romana’s daughter Sari Mejia Santo, Edwina Fontaine, Jerome Weinberg, Cynthia Shipley, Bob Liekens and a completed a number of session and workshops with Jay Grimes.

After graduating and working under Romana in NYC, she moved to California where she spent a few years working under the famous Mari Winsor in Beverly Hills. She eventually opened her own studio, while continuing to perform ballet at the prestigious Colburn School of Dance and Music. Her clients include celebrity artists, actors and elite athletes, and real people wanting to improve their body through Pilates.

Alexandra is also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a certified Personal Trainer. She credits authentic classical Pilates with helping her ballet technique improve as well as helping her get back into great shape after three successful pregnancies and now keeping up with her three children.

Alexandra is now back in the US (East Grand Rapids, Michigan) where she owns Alexandra Bohlinger Pilates & Osteopathy in her home studio/clinic, fully equipped by Gratz Pilates apparatuses. She travels nationally and internationally teaching workshops and conferences to help Pilates teachers deepen their knowledge of the Pilates Method in their own bodies and their teaching.
