STUDIO
Grace Pilates + Yoga is a Classical Pilates and yoga studio located in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a third generation Pilates studio and a Host Center for Alycea Ungaro’s Real Pilates Teacher Training program we are dedicated to preserving the life work of Joseph Pilates. The studio offers group equipment, mat classes and private sessions all on Gratz equipment.
PEOPLE
Alix began her education with a Power Pilates Comprehensive Certification. Shortly after completion, she was accepted to Real Pilates certification program studying under acclaimed second generation teacher Alycea Ungaro. As a third generation teacher, Alix is on a mission to continue to spread classical Pilates to the community. The longtime dream to open Grace Studio, came after Alix’s husband Carl was diagnosed with stage IV inoperable cancer for the second time. Alix emphatically credits both Pilates and Yoga as her “saving grace” through a very challenging time, and now devotes her energy towards creating a space for others to feel the same.
Preserving the lineage of Joe Pilate’s original teachings is one of the things that inspires Alix, and her league of third generation trainers that she helps nurture through the Real Pilates Training program out of Grace Studio. “At Grace, we honor the legacy of Joe Pilates, Romana Kryzanowska, and Alycea Ungaro, and take the utmost care in preserving the original work as it was intended,” says Alix.
EQUIPMENT
There is an undeniable difference in working with Gratz equipment compared to other designers. We hear it from clients all the time who after having worked on other equipment, revel in their discovery of new working muscle groups as they work through the system in our studio. We chose Gratz not only for the visceral benefits the equipment provides to our clients, but also because it was in line with our mission to preserve and promote the original designs of Joe Pilates.
The studio offers an array of Gratz equipment including: Cadillac, Wunda chairs, Towers, Reformers, Ladder Barrel, High Chair.
